The Physical Layer for Edge Computing

In any protocol stack, there is a physical layer, and that is true for edge computing as well: you need a physical layer upon which to build the rest of the protocol stack.

The “Baselayer Edge” supplies the physical housing for an edge data center, initially developed to support enterprises wanting to quickly deploy five to 10 racks of IT capability and 50 KW of cooling and power in a very compact footprint.

And then there are the fiber optic cables that connect to the rest of the metro and wide area network, the cooling, electrical systems, racks and floors and servers.
